Sounds like a malfunctioning fuel pump.I had a few do the same thing. One was even new out the box.It ran for a little while then when it got warmed up the pump would die and the car would cut off.It sat for a while then it would start right up and do the same thing. It drove me nuts.Borrow a fuel pressure gauge(from Pepboys or AutoZone). It hooks up to a valve on the fuel rail. Its the same type of valve on your tire (Schrader valve). When the car dies again, turn the key off hook up the gauge and turn the key to the on position. You should get about 14psi.Then start the car.It should maintain 14psi.Anything less and the pump is bad.You may want to run the car and wait for it to cut off while you watch the gauge. You may need someone else to be in the driver seat to turn the key while you watch the gauge too.
